Creator audit

Scrape the last 30 posts, find the median, the ratio and the outliers, bucket the formats, then say what to make next.

Why does it matter?

Nothing gets said about someone's content before the numbers are in front of Tom. The audit sets the baseline every later decision is measured against.

How does it work?

  1. Scrape the last 30 posts.
  2. Work out the median, and the median against followers.
  3. Mark every post at three to four times the median.
  4. Bucket every post by format, then say what is working, each point with a number.

Where has Tom used it?

Tom's first week with a client is immersion: the people, the costs, the tools, the output and what has been tried before. At Sam Stoffel, that first look found no strategy and a team that needed rehiring.

Related terms

  • Outlier: A post past three times the median views of the last 30. The outlier is the brief for what to make next.
  • Views per follow: Views divided by follows for each post, the metric Tom uses most. A follow is the biggest signal short of a sale.
  • Retainer kickoff: The plan written the night a client signs: one goal for 90 days, a baseline for every number and a name against every step.
