# Owned audience

> The newsletter and Creator Therapy are tier 0: free, weekly, and the list every paid tier launches to.

Playbook 5, How I work. Animation: /playbooks/how-i-work/owned-audience.mp4

Short form is the loud bit, the newsletter is the bit I own. I'll push people from the website into a weekly email, and that list is where every paid thing launches. But you have to be really intentional about who you're building. Decide who it's for, then talk to them every single day.

## How do I use it?

1. Decide who the audience is before you build it, and call those people out in the free content every day.
2. Make the newsletter signup the main event on the website, and point every profile at it.
3. Send one email a week: the week's argument written down, plus what performed and what that says.
4. Write it in Tom's 2016 voice, scene first, blunt and specific.
5. Run Creator Therapy weekly on YouTube: the problem in their words, the diagnosis, the format fix, what to do on Monday.
6. Cut 3 to 4 short pieces from every episode so the long form feeds the daily count.
7. Shape Creator Therapy Light and Pro from what the first six episodes turn out to be about.
8. Launch every paid tier to the list first, and track new subscribers and open rate weekly.

## In his words

> I'll then do a weekly newsletter which will go out obviously once a week. I want to be able to push people from the website into that.
