# Long form to short form

> One prepped hour in a studio, or one talk, turned into weeks of clips, carousels and posts.

Playbook 5, How I work. Animation: /playbooks/how-i-work/long-form-to-short-form.mp4

I had 60 minutes in a podcast studio for Creator Hotline and came out with two months of content, posting every day. That only happened because it was prepped. I knew the questions and roughly what my answers would be, so it was ask, deliver, 40 seconds, next one. One piece of video, a lot of leverage.

## How do I use it?

1. Write the question bank and your answer spines before the studio day, drawn from the problems your audience already has.
2. Film the session as a run of standalone answers, one question and one idea each.
3. Pick moments that stand alone with a sentence of setup at most, and that carry conflict, a number, tactical advice or a candid admission.
4. Cut each moment to the selfie or Q&A shape, with the hook on screen in 3 to 5 words and nothing after the payoff.
5. Where the long form has a retention spike, cut there.
6. Transcribe the whole session and pull the best lines into carousels and text cards.
7. Plan some bespoke short form on the same shoot day, with the same cast and set, alongside the cut downs.
8. Post one a day and promote anything that beats the trailing 30 day median to LinkedIn.
