# The Pinterest board ladder

> How to arrange boards so jabs lead to one clear right hook.

Gary Vaynerchuk's framework, from Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook, pp. 233 to 268.

Framework 8 of 9 from [Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook](https://tomsharman.com/bookshelf/jab-jab-jab-right-hook/index.md) by Gary Vaynerchuk. Category: Lead generation.

## The steps

1. **Storefront boards.** Organise plain product boards with prices that link back to your site.
2. **Context boards.** Title boards by moment or mood so people want to repin them.
3. **Tangential boards.** Add boards loosely related to your brand to reach other audiences.
4. **Comments.** Engage with other people's pins to bring them to your page.
5. **One pitch board.** Keep a single board for the direct sales recommendation.

## Where it comes from

From chapter: Round 5: Glam It Up on Pinterest, pp. 233–268

Pinterest is eye candy driven by aspiration and acquisition, and its users, mostly women, are far more likely to buy what they pin. Brands should pin professional, magazine quality images, label boards with context-rich jabs, add prices, link every pin back and repin other people's work with a perspective. Boards that sit only near the brand reach new audiences, with one board kept for the aggressive pitch. The case studies show Whole Foods and Lauren Conrad doing it well and Arby's, Bethenny Frankel and Lululemon undone by poor photos or dead links.
